![]() ![]() In my case it was actually pointing at the power management process running on my Dell laptop - so that was almost impossible to fix, since, well, it’s a laptop! The problem with using LatencyMon is that whilst it can pinpoint a process that is causing problems, that may not be the true source of the issue. I was getting a problem somewhat similar to you that when I played live there would be a buffer overrun which would cause audio “crackle” or glitching (which is obviously not what you want when you’re playing live!). I used LatencyMon to help configure my laptop that I use for DJ software for low latency audio. This may help you, though our problems are different. To the you in the future reading this: I know you're 17 hours into the search for a solution, but don't give up hope. Really, REALLY hope this helps someone else out in the future. And as a bonus, my average FPS went up from about 55ish to 90 and above! Even at 2500μs, I don't seem to be getting any audio popping like before. The fix was to change my BIOS settings and force my GPU to use PCIe 3.0, at idle my DPC execution is chilling at around 390μs or so, and spikes up to 2500μs when gaming, instead of the 17000-21000μs of before. My DPC latency is still listed as around 2500, but I think that might be more on the normal end? I came across this YouTube video that seemed to have fixed my issue, somewhat. Asus Rog STRIX B560-i 'gaming' motherboardĮdit: After about 15+ hours of troubleshooting, total.Updating all drivers, squinting at long version numbers.Disabling throttling (c-states in BIOS and changing power plan in control panel).I've lost count of what I've tried at this point, but what I can confirm and remember doing is: This one doesn't seem as egregious as the other tests I've ran, but the audio and lag was still as bad during this test. Made a pastebin with the LatencyMon stats result after a short test. On the older drivers, the results didn't seem to be much better. On the latest drivers, the DPC time seems to be abysmal. However, when the GPU wasn't enabled, the system was fine which the tests also seems to indicate. The easiest way for me to test this was clicking a program that required admin permissions and that would usually cause distortion. One thing that confirmed my suspicions about my entire DPC latency issue being due to my GPU, aside from the main latency culprit being nvlddmkm.sys, is that when I disabled my graphics card in Device Manager, system audio was fine with no issues. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. You are likely to experience buffer underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. "Your system appears to have trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. It feels as if my entire machine freezes up for a half second whilst the audio tries to catch up.Īfter about 8 hours of googling and trying different solutions, I came across a tool called LatencyMon that confirmed what I assumed to be the issue, and put it into words than I could. But I notice whenever I'm doing anything that requires any real GPU activity, I get some heavy, heavy audio crackling and general system lag.
